Behind The Frame

Sweta Chandra

Sweta Chandra

Sweta Chandra’s gives life to objects helping the viewer connect to and open his library of memories of some old objects and his memories around it. For her, it is the way to relive those moments of her life.
Object defines space. Through her art, Sweta Chandra has tried to achieve and an illusionary space through the shadows of a few self-designed chairs. It is recreating a scene, reliving a moment that has meant so much.

Inspired by her father, renowned artist Jogen Chowdhury and lecturer she set about following her dream of becoming an artist. She also enjoyed her outings as a teacher of art in different capacities – as an art educator at Kendriya Vidyalaya, lecturer of painting at S V College of Fine Art, jury for Bal Shree Awards. She has to her credit many solo and group shows. She has also been bestowed many scholarships as a student and many awards by the state.

Chandra’s teaching extends beyond the classroom. She conducts workshops and camps for those wanting to learn the art.
